Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced that a State Supreme Court judge has upheld the city's request for the cleanup of an unpermitted appliance graveyard on the Northside. Supreme Court Judge Gerard J. Neri ordered the owner of Kammar’s Restaurant Equipment to remove all debris, materials, equipment, and other junk from city right of way around properties at 926 and 1000 Wolf Street.

Additionally, the court instructed Charles Kammar to correct all code violations at these properties, including an adjacent vacant lot at 916 Wolf Street, and to remove tractor trailers from the city right of way in the area. The judge outlined a four-phase process for clearing the site with a final deadline set for April 26.

Mayor Walsh stated, “It’s a junk yard in the public right of way, and we won’t allow it to continue. The property owner has willfully ignored ongoing enforcement by City Code Enforcement making partial improvements only to return to unlawful behavior.” He added that they would hold the property accountable to Judge Neri’s order and work towards ending this neighborhood blight.

The next court appearance is scheduled for May 6, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
