Syracuse University Athletics has unveiled a new fundraising initiative, Champion ’Cuse: The Campaign for Syracuse Athletics. This campaign aims to raise $50 million to enhance the success of its 20 NCAA Division 1 programs both on and off the field. The funds will be used to attract and retain top-tier student-athletes and provide them with superior resources, facilities, and training.

John Wildhack, director of athletics at Syracuse University, stated, “Syracuse Athletics’ mission is to field champion-caliber teams that bring home conference and national championships.” He emphasized the evolving landscape of college athletics but reiterated Syracuse's commitment to developing outstanding student-athletes who excel in sports, academics, and community contributions.

The launch of this campaign coincides with significant changes in NCAA Division 1 athletics. These include developments related to name, image, and likeness (NIL), increased use of the transfer portal by student-athletes, and a pending settlement that may allow institutions to share revenue with athletes starting July 2025.

Wildhack added that successful programs will need strong support from their campuses and communities. He acknowledged the passionate backing from Syracuse University's community and Orange fans worldwide as crucial for competing at high levels.

Champion ’Cuse seeks to unite alumni and fans under a common goal: elevating Syracuse's athletic prowess. The campaign's objectives include winning championships, cultivating top teams by providing necessary resources, enhancing student-athlete experiences through comprehensive support programs, and strengthening the Orange brand nationally.

The campaign encourages participation from all sectors of the Syracuse University community including alumni, parents, friends, corporate leaders, and more. Contributions can be directed towards general needs or specific sports within Syracuse Athletics.
