Mayor Ben Walsh has expressed gratitude to the Common Council for their collaboration in extending the agreement with VeoRide, a micromobility transportation service operating in Syracuse. The extended contract is set to bring operational improvements and increased revenue for the city.
In his statement, Mayor Walsh highlighted the importance of VeoRide for many residents who lack access to cars. "For many people in the City of Syracuse, especially those without access to a car, VeoRide provides an essential transportation service for work, shopping, and other daily needs," he said.
The mayor acknowledged the council's role in authorizing the extension of the city's operating agreement with VeoRide. He noted that this partnership ensures that e-bikes and scooters remain available as warmer weather approaches. Additionally, he emphasized that these efforts have led to more revenue for Syracuse and enhancements in system operations across neighborhoods.
Walsh further commented on how VeoRide aligns with Syracuse's vision of becoming a more connected and environmentally friendly city. "VeoRide’s presence supports our vision for a more connected and environmentally friendly city, and we look forward to its continued success in meeting the evolving mobility needs of Syracuse," he stated.
