Students from Syracuse University recently collaborated with the Sleep in Heavenly Peace organization to construct 88 beds for children in need across Central New York. This initiative reflects the university's commitment to community service and student involvement.
The Institute for Democracy, Journalism and Citizenship organized a field trip to New York City for students enrolled in the Washington, D.C. programs of the Newhouse School and Maxwell School. The excursion included a tour of the United Nations headquarters, lunch at a Ukrainian restaurant, and a visit to NBC News at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
Tom Kenny, renowned as the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants and a Syracuse native, visited his alma mater to engage with students about careers in creative arts. His visit was part of an ongoing effort by the university to connect students with successful alumni.
The WellsLink Leadership Program celebrated its 21st Annual Transitions Ceremony, honoring scholars who have successfully advanced to their second year on campus. Meanwhile, during Black History Month celebrations, members of the Black Reign Step Team performed at the kickoff event.
In other events, Falk College hosted Dominick Fabrizio ’99 from New Balance for an on-campus presentation. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration featured Sarah Willie-LeBreton as its keynote speaker.
Syracuse University's various schools also offered unique opportunities for professional development. Students from Newhouse Los Angeles visited "Jeopardy!" while those in engineering met industry partners at a career fair. Advanced media management graduate students attended the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The campus community engaged in recreational activities such as ice skating at Clinton Square Ice Rink and participating in virtual reality experiences during the Gaming and Esports Center opening at Schine Student Center.
A memorial service took place at Hendricks Chapel commemorating the victims of Pan Am Flight 103 on its 36th anniversary. Flags were flown at half-staff at Syracuse University's National Veterans Resource Center to honor former President Jimmy Carter following his passing.
