One highlight is the launch of the fourth Diane Lyden Murphy Cohort experience by the Women in Leadership Initiative (WiL). This program supports emerging women leaders from various university departments with a combination of experiential learning, coaching, and self-assessment.
The grand opening of the Gaming and Esports Center at Schine Student Center was another notable event. Chancellor Kent Syverud attended alongside student leaders Braeden Cheverie-Leonard, Gabriel Goodwin, and Brianna Nechifor. Executive Director of Esports Joey Gawrysiak also addressed attendees during the ceremony.
The start of Winter 2025 semester saw students returning to campus amid snowy conditions. Some students embarked on international studies, arriving in Madrid for a seminar on Marine Ecology.
A memorial service was held at Hendricks Chapel on December 21, 2024, marking the anniversary of the Pan Am 103 bombing over Lockerbie. Brian Konkol led a procession to honor those lost in the tragedy.
In remembrance of former President Jimmy Carter's passing, flags at Syracuse University's National Veterans Resource Center were flown at half-staff.
