In Syracuse, a non-profit organization, We Rise Above The Streets Inc., continues its mission to support the community by breaking the cycle of homelessness and criminality. This year, students from Social Workers United (SWU) have chosen this organization as the beneficiary of their annual donation drive, which will run until March 10.

We Rise Above The Streets aims to provide essential resources to those in need within the Syracuse community. SWU consists of students from the School of Social Work at Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. Mary Claytor, a graduate assistant and member of SWU, states that they are "dedicated to fostering service projects aligned with the students’ passions."

The donation drive seeks new items such as food, hygiene products, and winter essentials for individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. Donations can be dropped off at specific locations within Falk College or purchased online through SWU's Amazon Wishlist.

Faculty advisors Jennifer Genovese, Nadaya Brantley, and Kristin Esposito guide SWU students in developing these service projects. Genovese highlights that "the students of Social Workers United continue to exemplify the core values of social work: service, social justice, human dignity, the importance of relationships, integrity and competence."

For further details about contributing to this cause or learning more about SWU's efforts and programs at Syracuse University School of Social Work, interested parties can contact them directly.

Syracuse University's School of Social Work is recognized among the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
