The Barnes Center at The Arch is playing a key role in helping the Orange community prepare for flu season. Dr. Karen Nardella, M.D., medical director of the Barnes Center, emphasizes the importance of taking preventive measures: “Getting your flu shot, washing your hands and staying home if you feel sick, really add up when strengthening your ability to successfully navigate flu season.”
To stay healthy during this time, individuals are encouraged to follow certain practices. These include getting a flu shot, frequently washing hands or using hand sanitizer, covering one's mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, avoiding contact with sick people, and staying home if feeling unwell.
For those who have not yet received their flu vaccination, it is still possible to do so. Faculty and staff should reach out to their healthcare providers for guidance. Syracuse University students can arrange a flu shot appointment at the Barnes Center either by booking online through the Patient Portal or by calling 315.443.8000.
