Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh has announced the appointment of Jessica Brandt as the new Director of the Central Permit Office. In her new role, Brandt will oversee the direction and coordination of activities within the office, focusing on permitting, licensing, and plan review procedures. Her goal is to assist residents and businesses in successfully obtaining necessary permissions for various projects in the city.
Brandt's previous experience includes serving as Assistant Director of the Central Permit Office. During her tenure, she provided guidance to developers, contractors, homeowners, and residents to ensure compliance with maintenance and safety standards. She also worked on enhancing accessibility and streamlining application processes. Brandt has been part of City government since 2017, contributing to both the Office of Management and Budget and the Office of Analytics, Performance and Innovation.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in History from Niagara University. Additionally, Brandt holds certifications as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and Change Agent Training. She also participated in the Center for Urban Pedagogy’s Fellowship for Change in Design.
