Vincent Scipione appointed director of digital services by Syracuse Mayor

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh has appointed Vincent Scipione as the Director of Digital Services in the Office of Analytics, Performance and Innovation (API). In his new position, Scipione will focus on modernizing digital systems to enhance both the digital experience for constituents and the efficiency of city employees.

Scipione's responsibilities include creating a sustainable and simplified digital landscape for government operations. He will develop and implement a strategic plan that aligns with policy and technology management for improving the city's digital services. Additionally, he will oversee cross-functional planning and coordination of digital systems.

Since joining the city in 2022 as Smart City Manager in the Office of the Mayor, Scipione has supported local digital equity initiatives such as Surge Link, Syracuse’s Community Broadband Program. His work included addressing the digital divide in Syracuse and monitoring projects using smart technologies to improve city operations. These efforts will continue under his leadership as Director of Digital Services.

Scipione holds a Master of Science in Information Management from Syracuse University, along with a Certificate of Advanced Study in Data Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Information Management and Technology. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Syracuse University's iSchool and serves on Syracuse University’s Generation Orange Leadership Council.
