Mayor Ben Walsh has announced the appointment of Jason Scharf as Deputy Director of Digital Services within the Office of Analytics, Performance, and Innovation (API). Scharf's new role involves promoting digital innovations and supporting digital solutions to enhance city government service delivery for residents.

Scharf will collaborate with departments to improve transparency and constituent engagement. His focus will be on ensuring that the city's software tools provide meaningful and accessible experiences for residents. He aims to drive service improvement and change management across departments to ensure efficient delivery of city services, both internally and externally, while adapting to current technology.

With nearly three years of experience in city government, Scharf previously served as API’s Data Program Manager. In this capacity, he managed the city's open data portal, contributed to launching the Data Governance committee, and played a pivotal role in developing "Open Data Day," which held its second iteration last November. Additionally, Scharf is a web development instructor at Syracuse University’s School.

Scharf holds a degree in religion and philosophy from Roberts Wesleyan University and has furthered his education with courses in data analytics and visualization at Eastern Gateway Community College.
