The MBA program at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University has achieved its highest standing in over 25 years, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2025 Best Graduate Schools rankings. The program is now placed at No. 54 in the nation, a leap from No. 66 the previous year and No. 84 a few years earlier.
Additionally, the Whitman Entrepreneurship MBA has secured the No. 29 spot in its category. These specialty rankings are based on evaluations from business school deans and directors of AACSB accredited MBA programs, who were asked to nominate outstanding programs.
Whitman’s MBA is now ranked alongside those from institutions like the University of Miami, University of Maryland, Tulane University, and Fordham University. The U.S. News ranking methodology considers factors such as job attainment and earnings of graduates, academic achievements, and evaluations from business school leaders and corporate recruiters. Data for these assessments was gathered in late 2024 and early 2025.
U.S. News surveyed 508 schools offering master's level business programs accredited by AACSB International, with 337 institutions responding. The top 133 were ranked based on the eligible programs. This year, for the first time, both the traditional and newly introduced GMAT test data were used.
Interim Dean Alex McKelvie expressed satisfaction with the program's progress. “Whitman is once again proving that we are a school on the rise,” he said. He emphasized the importance of investments in programs and student placement success for the positive rankings outcome.
Mary Collier, executive director of graduate admissions and student recruitment, highlighted the significance of the climb to No. 54. “Rankings aren’t everything, but they do matter to prospective students making one of the biggest decisions of their lives,” she stated.
