Syracuse University will highlight its dedication to veterans and military-connected communities with events scheduled for Wednesday, April 10. The events, hosted at the National Veterans Resource Center (NVRC), include an afternoon poster session and an address from a former U.S. military figure.
The day's activities kick off with the Voices of Service Poster Event, scheduled from 12:30 to 3 p.m. in the Bisignano Grand Hall. This event is organized by the Academic Affairs and the D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). It will feature various research projects, curricular initiatives, and community efforts led by Syracuse University members. According to organizers, the event offers insights into the university's support for military-connected populations, ranging from veteran-centered education to outreach initiatives. Brief remarks are set for 12:45 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to engage with presenters.
Following this, at 3 p.m., the K.G. Tan Auditorium will host the latest installment of the D’Aniello Speaker Series. The featured speaker is retired U.S. Air Force Col. Martha McSally, a trailblazer as one of the first women combat pilots in the U.S. military and former U.S. senator and representative. McSally will discuss themes of resilience and leadership based on her experiences in a talk titled “Be Unbreakable.” Her presentation will be followed by a reception back in the Grand Hall.
Both events are open to the public and require RSVP. These initiatives are part of Syracuse University's commitment to being a supportive environment for veterans, both on and off campus.
