Community Bank has contributed $10,000 to the Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (WISE) Women’s Business Center at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. This donation marks International Women's Day and aims to support Central New York's entrepreneurs through WISE's comprehensive programs.
The funds will aid WISE’s Accelerate Financial Management Program, which offers practical financial training for entrepreneurs. The program covers essential topics such as budgeting, cash flow, financial statements, and profitability strategies.
Pam Brunet, Director of Community and Corporate Relations at Community Financial System Inc., stated: “As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we recognize the importance of empowering women through financial literacy and economic opportunity.” She emphasized that women form a significant part of their workforce and highlighted the company's commitment to creating opportunities for women in communities.
Women hold key roles within Community Financial System Inc., comprising 71% overall, with specific percentages in various branches like Community Bank N.A. (79%) and OneGroup NY Inc. (72%).
Meghan Florkowski, director of WISE WBC, expressed gratitude for the donation: “At WISE, we believe in the economic power of women entrepreneurs. This generous donation from Community Bank will directly support our local business owners.” She noted that this collaboration empowers women to enhance their financial skills and contribute to community growth.
The donation was announced with representatives from both WISE and Community Bank present.
