Syracuse University has announced the continuation of its test optional policy for students applying for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 admissions. This means that SAT or ACT scores will not be required for these applicants.
The policy, first implemented in 2021, ensures that students who opt not to submit standardized test scores will not face any disadvantage during the admission process. "Our comprehensive review process has always considered standardized test scores as just one factor," stated Maurice A. Harris, dean of Admissions. "With our test-optional policy, we place greater emphasis on other aspects of a student’s journey, including academic performance, the rigor of their chosen coursework, and their extracurricular involvement."
Students choosing not to submit test scores will still be eligible for merit scholarships. Those who decide to include their test scores can provide either self-reported or official scores. However, self-reported scores will only require official confirmation if the student is admitted and decides to enroll.
