Syracuse University has been recognized as a Fulbright Top Producing Institution for U.S. students by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. This acknowledgment highlights the university's success in having a significant number of its applicants selected for the 2024-25 Fulbright U.S. Student Program cohort.

Sixteen students from Syracuse University have been awarded Fulbright research, study, and teaching grants for the academic year 2024-25. These awards will take them to various countries including Andorra, Argentina, Germany, India, Italy, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Tajikistan, and the United Kingdom.

The Center for Fellowship and Scholarship Advising (CFSA) at Syracuse University administers the Fulbright competition on campus. This marks the fifth time—and third consecutive year—that Syracuse has been named a Fulbright Top Producing Institution. The university was previously honored for cohorts in 2012-13 under professor emerita Susan Wadley and in 2019-20, 2022-23, and 2023-24 under CFSA.

A committee comprising thirty-eight faculty and staff members from across Syracuse University supports applicants through interviews and feedback. Jolynn Parker, director of CFSA states: “Preparing our students to be strong Fulbright applicants, and supporting them through the application process is an all-campus effort. Faculty and staff are crucial.”

Among this year's recipients is Alec Rovensky ’21 from the School of Architecture who received a grant to study in Germany. He is pursuing a master's degree in architecture typology at Technische Universität Berlin where he researches urban restructuring efforts focused on housing migrants and refugees. Rovensky shares his experience saying: “By challenging myself to move to an unfamiliar place... I’ve placed myself in a position where I am learning and growing every day.”

Rovensky will also attend a seminar hosted by Fulbright in Luxembourg and Brussels next week with visits planned to EU and NATO headquarters.

For those interested in applying for future Fulbright awards at Syracuse University should contact CFSA at cfsa.syr.edu.
