The Sport Management Club at Syracuse University successfully raised $59,500 for the Rescue Mission of Syracuse during its 20th Annual Charity Sports Auction. The event took place on December 10, coinciding with a Syracuse men’s basketball game, where attendees had the opportunity to purchase and bid on various items such as sports memorabilia, electronics, jewelry, and trips. An online auction also complemented the in-person event.
A formal check presentation occurred on February 28 at the JMA Wireless Dome. Attending were Falk College Assistant Professor Jeremy Losak, senior Adelaide Gilley, and Rescue Mission Chief Executive Officer Dan Sieburg.
Adelaide Gilley ’25 (sport analytics), Livia McQuade ’25 (sport management), and Tynan Weathers ’25 (sport management) led the event as co-chairs. Apex Entertainment served as the title sponsor for this year's auction.
Jeremy Losak praised the students’ efforts: “The students have outdone themselves with this year’s Charity Sports Auction, and I couldn’t be prouder.” He highlighted the extensive behind-the-scenes work involved in organizing the event. “From marketing and sales to sponsorship activation, analytics, event management, and fundraising, this event gives students a hands-on opportunity to apply classroom knowledge while making a real impact on the greater Syracuse community,” he added.
Since its inception in 2005, the club has raised over $760,000 for local charities. Past beneficiaries include organizations like Tillie’s Touch and Boys & Girls Clubs among others.
