Syracuse Stage has appointed Carly DiFulvio Allen as its new managing director, effective March 1. DiFulvio Allen is currently the associate general manager at Disney Theatrical Group, where she oversees productions of "Aladdin" and "Beauty and the Beast" worldwide. She will succeed Jill A. Anderson in her new role.
During her time at Disney Theatrical Group, DiFulvio Allen was a member of the advisory committee for Ensemble, an employee-led network aimed at promoting inclusivity. She also co-founded and chaired a sub-committee focused on parents and caregivers.
Before joining Disney, DiFulvio Allen worked as a company manager at Roundabout Theatre Company for 25 Broadway productions. Her notable projects included "The 39 Steps," "On the Twentieth Century" with Kristen Chenoweth, and "Violet" starring Sutton Foster.
Bob Hupp, Syracuse Stage's artistic director, expressed enthusiasm about DiFulvio Allen's appointment: “We are thrilled to welcome Carly to Syracuse Stage. Her background in New York City nonprofit theatres, and her recent work with Disney Theatrical Group, are perfectly suited to the leadership role she’ll assume when she joins us in March."
A Rochester native with degrees from Ithaca College in theatre management and integrated marketing communications, DiFulvio Allen sees this move as a return to her roots: “I am thrilled to be joining the remarkable team at Syracuse Stage and returning to Central New York.”
Richard Driscoll, chair of Syracuse Stage’s board of trustees, praised DiFulvio Allen’s fit for the organization: “Her deep experience in the theatre industry and ties to Central New York will make her a perfect partner with our Artistic Director Bob Hupp.”
Board president Herm Frazier shared similar sentiments about her enthusiasm and experience aligning well with Syracuse Stage's needs.
DiFulvio Allen's selection concludes an extensive nationwide search led by Management Consultants for the Arts under Nancy Green’s guidance.
The current season at Syracuse Stage features several productions including Eboni Booth's Pulitzer Prize-winning "Primary Trust," Rajiv Joseph's "King James," Kate Hamill's adaptation of Jane Austen’s "Sense and Sensibility," and Rogelio Martinez's world premiere of "The National Pastime."
