Crouse Health and AMP Urology have announced that Dr. Andres Madissoo is the first in Central New York to offer Aquablation therapy using the new HYDROS Robotic System. This system represents an advancement in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as an enlarged prostate.

The HYDROS Robotic System is designed to improve efficiency and enhance the experience for both surgeons and staff, offering a more accurate treatment plan for better clinical outcomes. It features FirstAssist AI treatment planning, advanced image guidance, robotic resection, and a streamlined workflow.

Aquablation therapy utilizes water delivered with robotic precision to remove prostate tissue. This method is clinically proven to provide significant symptom relief while preserving sexual function and continence across prostates of various shapes and sizes.

Dr. Madissoo explained, “Men with enlarged prostates have a variety of treatment options available, which depend on symptoms and prostate size. Aquablation is a very powerful new tool, able to treat men with any size prostate in a short period of time.”

The procedure involves real-time ultrasound imaging, allowing personalized treatment planning tailored to each patient's anatomy. The surgeon can determine which areas of the prostate to remove while preserving erectile function, ejaculatory function, and continence. The robotic-assisted procedure enables precise removal of prostate tissue.

Performed under anesthesia, the procedure typically takes less than an hour and requires an overnight hospital stay. No abdominal incision is made; instead, the prostate is accessed through the urethra.

Dr. Madissoo expressed enthusiasm about introducing this therapy at Crouse Health and AMP Urology: “This innovative treatment provides a new level of precision and safety, ultimately improving patient outcomes and quality of life.”
