Syracuse University is urging its employees to contribute to the United Way of Central New York's annual giving campaign. With less than two weeks remaining, head women's basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack emphasized the importance of community support. "Syracuse is a strong, blue-collar city," she stated, expressing her hope to be an example of giving back.
The campaign began on October 18 and will conclude on December 13. The United Way has been providing essential resources in Central New York for over a century, supporting numerous programs through partnerships with nonprofit organizations. Dean Michael Frasciello highlighted the significance of this effort: "The United Way gives us that opportunity to make sure we are helping those who have the biggest needs."
University employees can pledge donations via MySlice or by contacting campaign coordinator Jake Losowski for paper pledge cards. Retirees are also encouraged to participate in this longstanding tradition. All contributions remain within Central New York, addressing various community needs.
A video featuring co-chairs Kirsten Elleby and Ryan Williams underscores the impact of donations. Elleby noted, "You never know when your friend, your neighbor, your family member is going to benefit from some of the good that United Way does." The campaign involves team leaders from across campus promoting participation among their colleagues.
Cristina Hatem remarked on the role of United Way as a central figure in local nonprofit efforts: "We have a lot to be fortunate for, so giving back is a way to acknowledge that and make a difference." The message remains clear—every contribution matters.
