The Syracuse University Department of Drama is opening its 2024/25 season with the musical "Pippin," composed by Stephen Schwartz and written by Roger O. Hirson. Directed by Torya Beard, the production will run from October 11 to October 20 at the Storch Theatre, located within the Syracuse Stage/SU Drama Complex.

"Pippin" follows a young prince on his quest for happiness and fulfillment. The story explores themes of power, pleasure, and the realization that true contentment lies in everyday moments. Ralph Zito, professor and chair of the department of drama, expressed enthusiasm about the production: “We have assembled an extraordinary artistic team–composed of award-winning creators, distinguished faculty, and accomplished alumni–to help us re-imagine and re-invigorate this timeless story of the search for purpose.”

The creative team includes Kevin Boseman as choreographer and associate director, Brian Cimmet as music director, Adesola Osakalumi contributing additional choreography, Ningning Yang on scenic design, Jessica Crawford handling costume design, Andy LiDestri overseeing lighting design, Kevin O’Connor managing sound design, Dylinn Andrew on wig design, Molly Evert as dramaturgist, and Maya Rose Zepeda as stage manager.

The cast features Connor English as Pippin; Kendall Stewart and Gwendalyn Rose Díaz sharing the role of Leading Player; Lili Williams as Fastrada; Emily Pellecchia as Catherine; Nyobi Boddie playing Charles; Izzy Scampoli portraying Bertha; with an ensemble including Samantha Jade Berman among others.

Tickets are available through the Syracuse Stage Box Office or by calling 315.443.3275.
