Syracuse University's Women in Leadership (WiL) Initiative is now accepting applications for the Diane Lyden Murphy Cohort 4 Experience. Faculty and staff are encouraged to apply by October 21, with successful candidates being notified by November 14. Applications can be submitted via Qualtrics through a colleague's nomination or self-nomination. Those who have previously applied are welcome to reapply.
The cohort experience offers an intensive professional development opportunity aimed at enhancing knowledge of academic leadership, improving key skills like active listening and emotional intelligence, fostering self-discovery, and building networks of women leaders. The program aims to help participants find new roles on or off campus.
Named after former Dean Diane Lyden Murphy, the program acknowledges her contributions as an advocate for women on campus. The cohort will consist of 25 emerging faculty and staff leaders and include experiential learning sessions, coaching, skill development, and networking opportunities.
Since its inception, 72 Syracuse University women have participated in previous cohorts, with over 1,000 community members attending WiL events. Participants have praised the initiative for building their professional capacity and confidence.
Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to completing the program and advancing personally and professionally. Criteria include job focus, years of experience, expertise, interest in self-development, and a minimum of seven years of professional experience with at least three years in a leadership role.
