The dining hall at the One Team Olympic Sport Center will be named in honor of Edward C. Magee Sr., a devoted supporter of Orange sports, following a $2 million donation from his son, Edward "Ed" C. Magee. This contribution is aimed at supporting the John A. Lally Athletics Complex and the Athletics Opportunity Fund.

"My dad was serious about work, community, country and Syracuse University athletics," Ed Magee said. The elder Magee passed away in 1989 at age 78. His son's gift ensures that the dining hall will be known as Magee One Team Dining.

Reflecting on his father's legacy, Ed Magee noted, "My father was a low-key guy, but I know he would have wanted to help student-athletes and the athletics program in meaningful ways." Both shared a passion for sports and its impact on enhancing the university's reputation. "He turned me into an avid Syracuse University sports fan at a young age," Ed added.

John Wildhack, director of athletics, expressed gratitude for contributions like Ed's: "Since we launched a dedicated campaign in 2021 to raise $150 million to enhance the student-athlete experience, we’ve been amazed and gratified by the support of donors like Ed."

The fundraising goal is part of Syracuse University's $1.5 billion Forever Orange Campaign. Chancellor Kent Syverud acknowledged this philanthropic effort: "Philanthropy has always been critical to creating an environment where all our students can thrive... I am grateful to Ed for recognizing that his gift can elevate the entire student experience."

Ed Magee graduated with degrees in aerospace engineering and management data systems from Syracuse University and served in both military and corporate roles before retiring early to focus on consulting and philanthropy.

In 2018, he established an endowed scholarship for undergraduate students needing financial assistance at the School of Information Studies. His recent donation aims to benefit student-athletes who will use Magee One Team Dining.

Syracuse University continues its mission as a private research institution with diverse academic offerings across its schools and colleges.

Forever Orange: The Campaign for Syracuse University seeks to raise significant funds for academic excellence and student opportunities while engaging alumni worldwide.
