The City of Syracuse Department of Parks and Recreation, in collaboration with the Kirk Park Neighborhood Association, is set to host the Mile Marketplace on Saturday, October 5, 2024. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. along the Onondaga Creekwalk in Lower Onondaga Park at 655 Onondaga Avenue.

“This is more than a market along the Creekwalk,” stated Parks Commissioner Tony Williams. “This market is an opportunity to celebrate and support local talent and vendors, enjoy several of the city’s recreational assets, and strengthen the connections that make this neighborhood thrive.”

The outdoor marketplace will showcase vendor booths featuring local artisans, crafters, food trucks, small businesses, and non-profit organizations. Additionally, it aims to promote wellness through various activities scheduled throughout the day.

As part of the event's offerings, the department will conduct a free Yard Tree Giveaway for property owners in Syracuse. Eligible participants can receive up to two trees per address for planting in their yards. A range of tree species will be available including native, edible, flowering varieties as well as both large and small trees suited for different yard sizes. The trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

On-street parking is accessible along Lower Onondaga Creek Park Drive and surrounding neighborhood streets where posted signs permit.
