Syracuse University is set to open applications for its spring 2025 study abroad programs on June 1. With the conclusion of the spring semester, students are encouraged to begin planning their overseas academic experiences.

The university, through Syracuse Abroad, offers over 60 program options in numerous countries worldwide, providing a diverse range of opportunities for all Syracuse University students. The initiative aligns with the Academic Strategic Plan, which aims to ensure every undergraduate student has the chance to participate in a study abroad or study away experience before graduation.

Shea McCarron ’24, a political science major at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, shared her enriching experience studying abroad. “As a political science major, learning about the political systems in Spain and in the EU [European Union] provided a new insight into global politics,” she said. McCarron added that her time in Spain was both rewarding and enlightening due to various opportunities to visit significant governmental and historical locations.

In spring 2025, students will have immersive experiences at centers located in Florence, Italy; London, England; Madrid, Spain; Santiago, Chile; and Strasbourg, France. These environments are designed to foster global engagement and broaden perspectives.

The Santiago Center in Chile will offer an English immersion program where students can experience Santiago's rich culture while taking social sciences and humanities courses in English. Unlike traditional Latin American study options, this program aligns closely with a typical U.S. semester from January to May.

In London, England, the Setnor Music program will be available exclusively during spring for fourth-semester Setnor School of Music students pursuing music-related degrees. Similarly, the Whitman Core program will offer second-year Whitman School of Management students an opportunity to complete core courses while immersed in London’s dynamic business environment.

In Strasbourg, France, French language studies will be available with options to enroll at one of three partner universities located near the Syracuse Center.

World Partner programs will also be available, allowing students to choose from over 50 programs through partner institutions in cities across the globe. These programs cater to independent and curious students seeking unique abroad experiences.

The application cycle for spring 2025 will be open from June 1 to October 1 for most programs, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Early application is encouraged due to limited capacity in some programs. For more information, students can schedule an appointment with an international program advisor or make a general advising appointment to explore their options.
