Cost of college went up for all students at Onondaga Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 6.4 percent for 2018-19 at Onondaga Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $5,484 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $330 more than the $5,154 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 89.4 percent more than residents this year, or $10,384. Their price tag grew 6.8 percent from $9,724 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New York residents. About 1 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 86 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,397 students received grants or scholarships totaling $9.5 million and 828 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.7 million.

Including all undergraduates (9,834), 4,398 students used grants or scholarships totaling $26.5 million, and 2,599 students took out $11.7 million in federal student loans.
