Jennifer Hain Teper, a Velde Professor and Preservation Librarian at the University of Illinois Libraries, is set to present at Syracuse University Libraries' Brodsky Series for the Advancement of Library Conservation. Her lecture, titled “Historic Scrapbooks in Libraries and Archives – the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” will take place on Wednesday, April 2. The event will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Bird Library’s Peter Graham Scholarly Commons (Room 114) and also available via Zoom. Registration is required for those attending virtually and encouraged for in-person participants.

In addition to the lecture, a workshop titled “Understanding Historic Scrapbooks and Their Preservation” is scheduled for Thursday, April 3. This hands-on session will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the sixth floor of Bird Library in the Antje Bultmann Lemke Seminar Room and the Joan Breier Brodsky ’67, G’68 Conservation Lab. The workshop is limited to 15 participants and requires advance registration by contacting Max Wagh at mlwagh@syr.edu.

These events are open to the public without charge.

The Brodsky Series for the Advancement of Library Conservation is supported by an endowment from William J. ’65, G’68 and Joan ’67, G’68 Brodsky. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025, this series has consistently provided programs that highlight prominent library conservators with a focus on advancing library conservation theory and practice both locally and regionally.
