The City of Syracuse has issued a notice to drivers and public transportation users to anticipate delays on Sunday, March 23, due to the Syracuse Half Marathon. The event will affect the Downtown, Sedgwick, Eastwood, and Franklin Square areas from 7 a.m. until around noon.
The marathon is set to begin at 7:53 a.m., with several streets closed temporarily for the race. Organizers have provided a course map and closure timetable to help drivers find alternate routes around the affected roads. This schedule is aligned with the expected pace of over 3,000 participants covering the 13.1-mile course.
Residents are advised to allow extra travel time during these hours. Officers from the Syracuse Police Department will manage traffic flow by directing vehicles between runners as they progress along the route.
For additional details or inquiries about detours, individuals can reach out to Rick Streeter via email at syracusehalf@gmail.com.
