The Barnes Center at The Arch is collaborating with Institutional Research to conduct the Student Health and Wellness Survey for all students at Syracuse University. This survey, conducted every two years, plays a crucial role in shaping health and wellness programs based on student feedback.

Cory Wallack, Ph.D., associate vice president of student health and wellness at the Barnes Center, stated, "As the hub for student wellness, the Barnes Center at The Arch works to support our students at Syracuse University and empower them to be well beyond graduation. This starts with weaving in the voices of and feedback shared from our students into everything we do."

Following the last survey in 2023, significant trends were identified. Qingyi Yu, Ph.D., associate director of health and wellness research at the Barnes Center, noted that students expressed a need for an increased sense of belonging. In response, initiatives such as expanding the Together We Thrive program were implemented.

Findings from the 2023 survey were shared with university leaders and various campus groups. Wallack emphasized that achieving student wellness requires community involvement: "The Barnes Center is driven by an understanding that student wellness cannot be achieved in a vacuum or silo—it takes a community to achieve this."

The 2025 Health and Wellness Survey aims to continue enhancing programs through student input. It is accessible via Syracuse University emails until March 9, 2025. Participants can win prizes including Amazon gift cards and early class registration spots.
