The City of Syracuse Department of Parks & Recreation has opened the public bidding process for the rehabilitation of the Hanover Square Fountain. The city is inviting qualified construction firms to undertake structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs, as well as landscaping around the iconic fountain.

Originally designed and constructed in the early 1980s, the Hanover Square Fountain was intended to introduce a new public plaza for events and gatherings in Downtown Syracuse. However, exposure to Central New York weather over the years has affected its structural integrity. The fountain was taken out of commission in 2022 for a complete systems assessment and design by QPK Design.

A pre-bid meeting is set for Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Engineering Conference Room at City Hall Room 405. Contractors will have an opportunity to visit the site following this meeting. The work is expected to commence from March through October 2025. More information about the bid can be found at https://goto.syr.gov/hanover-fountain-bid-notice.

Proposals must be submitted to the City of Syracuse Division of Purchase at City Hall Room 213 by 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
