Central New York fall festival guide: Events from apple picking to haunted houses

Fall in Central New York (CNY) offers a variety of festivals and events for families and friends to enjoy. From apple picking to haunted houses, there is something for everyone.

The Lafayette Apple Festival will be held on Rowland Road in Lafayette, New York, on October 12-13. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, with an apple pancake breakfast starting at 7 a.m. both days. Admission is $6 per person, while children under 12 enter free of charge.

For those looking for Halloween-themed activities, the Wicked Woods Drive Through at Pinewoods campground in Fayetteville will take place on October 19. The event is free, but donations for the CNY Food Bank are encouraged.

Zoo Boo at Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse offers daytime Halloween celebrations on October 12-13, 19-20, and 26-27. Tickets range from $7 to $9 depending on purchase details and do not include zoo admission unless you are a member.

Critz Farms in Cazenovia hosts its Fall Harvest Celebration through October 20. Admission varies between $6 and $10 per person based on the day of the week visited.

Chuck Hafner’s Fall Festival in North Syracuse runs from September 28 through October 20 with free daily activities and additional weekend events that may require fees.

Abbott Farms Fall Fest in Baldwinsville continues through October 27 with various activities available for different admission fees.

Springside Farm Fall Harvest in Fabius also extends through October 27 with an admission fee of $14 per person or $12 for seniors and veterans with ID.

Haunted house enthusiasts can visit the CMC Haunted House in Cicero every Friday and Saturday night from October 4-26. Ticket prices range from $15 to $30 depending on participation levels.

Fright Nights at Lepage Place in Syracuse occur every weekend in October with an admission fee of $30 per person.

Syracuse Walk of the Dead Presents Erie Hallows at Exit 38 in Liverpool invites visitors every Friday and Saturday night from October 4-26. Admission costs are set at $20 for adults and $14 for children aged 13 and under.

Family-friendly locations such as Tim’s Pumpkin Patch in Marietta offer daily activities until October 31 with varying admission fees based on the day visited.

The Pumpkin Hollow in Syracuse provides free entry daily until the end of October with additional attractions like a corn maze and hayride available.

Spooktacular Stroll at Long Branch Park in Liverpool is open Thursdays through Sundays throughout October, charging $25 per vehicle for entry.

Flashlight Safari and Halloween Nights at Chittenango run every Friday and Saturday night throughout October with tickets priced according to age categories: children under two enter free, seniors and children aged three to twelve pay $16.99, while adults are charged $19.99 each.
