Wildcats Split with Bisons on Opening Day

The Cazenovia College baseball team split with host Gallaudet University on Saturday afternoon as the Wildcats took game one 22-3, but fell short in game two 4-11.  The Wildcats had a strong day on offense as they finished with 24 hits, 26 runs scored, and 22 RBIs.  They also finished with 6 doubles and 5 triples.  In game one the Wildcats would jump out to an early 10 run lead before the Bison scored there first run.  There offense would stay strong as they would score at least one run in the first 6 innings. In the Wildcats first game of the year they scored 22 runs and finished with 19 hits which are both higher then any game last season. 

Game One

Key Performances

  • Senior Jack Lees led the Wildcats at the plate as eh finished 4 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBIs.   3 of Lees 4 hits were extra base hits as he finished with 2 doubles and 1 triple.
  • Senior Parker Wing finished 2 for 3 with 3 RBI, 2 runs scored, 1 triple.
  • Freshman Will Winter and freshman Brendan Mair both finished with 2 hits for the Wildcats, while senior Anthony Cretella and senior Cameron Ciampaglia also both finished with 2 hits.
  • Sophomore Zach Rainville picked up the win for the Wildcats as he pitched 4 strong innings allowing just 3 runs scored.
  • Freshman Carter Matus pitched in relief, pitching 3 innings, allowing 2 hits while giving up zero runs scored.
Game two

Key Performances

  • Freshman Xander Canfield finished perfect at the plate as he went 3 for 3 with 1 runs scored and 1 RBI.
  • Mair and Cretella each finished with 1 hit for the Wildcats.
  • Freshman Michael Balnis pitched one inning in relief as he allowed zero runs while striking out one batter.
