Madison County is celebrating Child Passenger Safety Week September 18-24, 2022 with a Child Safety Seat Check and Safe Child ID event on Wednesday, September 21 from 4:00-6:30 pm in the Walmart parking lot in Oneida. Trained staff from Madison County Health Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police will make sure your child is in the correct car seat and that the seat is properly installed and used. It is best to install the car seat beforehand and to bring the child with you if possible. No appointment is needed.
You may also get your child’s photo and fingerprints taken by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office to create an ID card that will help quickly provide important details to law enforcement in the event they receive a missing child report.
“As a parent or caregiver, we know a top priority is keeping your child safe,” said Chrystal Johnson, a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician and Public Health Educator with Madison County Health Department. “That’s why we’re hosting this check event during Child Passenger Safety Week. Know that your child is secure in their car seat, and they are in the right seat for their age and size.”
