Daniel A. D’Aniello, co-founder and chair emeritus of The Carlyle Group, will address the graduating class at Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management Convocation in 2025. D’Aniello, a Syracuse alumnus and a life trustee, is recognized not only for his business achievements but also for his enduring support for the university.

D'Aniello's esteemed career includes strategic roles such as vice president for finance and development at Marriott Corporation, as well as financial officer positions at PepsiCo, Inc., and Transworld Airlines. As a Syracuse graduate, he was a prominent member of the business fraternity Beta Gamma Sigma and continued his education with an MBA from Harvard Business School. His military service in the U.S. Navy as a distinguished graduate of the Officer Candidate School and supply officer supported the development of his leadership skills.

Whitman Interim Dean Alex McKelvie expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We could not be more excited to have Dan D’Aniello speak to our graduates this year. His global business acumen is unparalleled, and I am certain his words of advice, based on his own success, leadership and generous spirit, are sure to resonate with our outstanding 2025 Whitman School graduates who are eager to soak up his wisdom as they embark on the next steps in their business careers.”

D'Aniello's continuous support for Syracuse University is evidenced by his positions on the Whitman Advisory Council and as co-chairman of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families Advisory Board. Noteworthy contributions include the founding of the D’Aniello Entrepreneurship Internship Program and the naming gift for both the D’Aniello Building and Institute for Veterans and Military Families. His contributions have provided significant support for veteran and military-connected students, as well as the expansion of study abroad programs in Florence, Italy. Recently, D’Aniello and his wife, Gayle, made a significant gift to the Syracuse University Catholic Center.

The 2025 Whitman Convocation will occur on May 10 at 4 p.m., held in the JMA Wireless Dome.
