Syracuse University's annual Giving Day has reached new heights, thanks to the contributions of its expansive Orange community. On this special day, 7,229 donors helped raise $1.68 million, and the amount continues to grow. Contributions came from across the United States and 16 other countries, showing widespread support for the institution.
Special recognition goes to 2,045 alumni, 1,008 students, and 994 faculty and staff members who contributed. Notably, the Class of 2025 had the highest number of donors, while the Class of 1968 raised the most funds.
At the center of the day's events was the Schine Student Center, where 38 different student organizations took part in the activities. Their efforts led to a 294% increase in donor participation for a student organization challenge, which raised funds for their projects. The center was a hub of activity with tabletop games, giveaways, free food, and live broadcasts featuring students and guests. "If you didn’t catch the 15 live shows broadcast throughout the day, featuring 10 student co-hosts and 17 guests, you can find them next week on the Alumni YouTube channel."
The event's success was fueled by various initiatives: "Personal link sharing resulted in 996 donors and more than $75,000 dollars," and "185 people made their first-ever gift to Syracuse University." Additionally, all 13 schools and colleges at the university organized events, and 38 challenges and matches encouraged more giving.
Support extended beyond the campus with alumni clubs hosting gatherings in New York City, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, and South Florida. Spirit Squad members traversed the area, distributing swag, stamp cards, and candy.
Despite spanning wide geographies, the day showcased unity and generosity toward Syracuse University, capturing the spirit of "One Day for Orange." "Thank you for making Syracuse Giving Day a day to remember! It wouldn’t be One Day for Orange without YOU!"
