Syracuse University is set to host the 108th Chancellor’s Review and Awards Ceremony on Friday, March 28, 2025. This event, which celebrates the achievements of Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets, will take place at 9 a.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome. A brief reception will follow at Club 44.

The tradition of the Chancellor’s Review began on May 4, 1917, initiated by Chancellor James R. Day. It reflects Syracuse University's commitment to military service and is reminiscent of traditional military ceremonies from the Middle Ages.

During the ceremony, awards will be given to Army and Air Force ROTC cadets for their dedication to service and academic success. Scholarships provided by military commands, veterans' organizations, and university alumni will also be awarded to support these cadets as they prepare for commissioning into the military.

Retired U.S. Army Colonel Ron Novack, executive director of the Office of Veterans and Military Affairs (OVMA), highlighted the significance of this event: “The annual Chancellor’s Review is one of the few events throughout the year where the campus community can get a glimpse of what makes Syracuse University the ‘Best Place for Veterans.’ The Army ROTC program at Syracuse is one of the longest-running ROTC programs in the country and our Air Force ROTC program was one of the first programs in the nation.”

Novack added that with "the University celebrating the 10-year anniversary of OVMA later this year," this ceremony provides an opportunity to observe how both ROTC programs have grown through revitalized initiatives supporting military-connected students.

The university encourages participation from students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to honor future leaders in armed forces. Those interested in attending are invited to RSVP for both the review and reception.

For those unable to attend in person, a live stream will be available. Updates regarding access to this stream can be found through RSVP communications.
