Yesterday, Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay acknowledged local agencies with a New York State Proclamation, marking Oswego County as the first "Work Ready Community" in the state. This designation allows residents to earn the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), a credential that aids job seekers in enhancing their skills in math, graphic literacy, and workplace documents. Participants must complete an assessment to obtain these credentials.

The achievement aims to address the skills gap and enhance career readiness for individuals entering or reentering the workforce or exploring new opportunities. By becoming "work-ready," residents can gain qualifications needed for today's job market. A skilled workforce contributes to a better business environment and a sustainable future for New York.
