Devon Newsome, a 32-year-old from Forrest Park, Georgia, received a sentence of 60 months in prison for illegally transferring firearms to a resident of New York. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman, alongside Frank A. Tarentino III, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA's New York Field Division, and Bryan Miller, Special Agent in Charge of the ATF's New York Field Division.

Newsome had previously pled guilty to delivering 29 firearms on May 21, 2023, including stolen weapons and a handgun with a machinegun conversion device, to a New York resident while still in Georgia. These firearms were then transported to Albany's Western Avenue property. It was acknowledged that neither Newsome nor the recipient were licensed firearm importers or dealers. On May 23, law enforcement discovered 34 firearms at the mentioned location.

Judge Anne M. Nardacci imposed an additional three-year supervised release following Newsome's imprisonment.

Several others have been implicated in this investigation:

Anthony Luizzi admitted guilt to drug and gun crimes linked to trafficking fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and possessing over 30 firearms found at the Western Avenue property. He received a sentence of 210 months and was fined $10,000 on October 1, 2024.

Brandon Bartley faced sentencing on September 24, 2024; he will serve 180 months and pay a $5,000 fine for drug and gun-related offenses connected to the same property.

Jabree Jones was charged with violating federal supervised release terms due to alleged gun and drug trafficking violations on May 23. He is detained pending his final revocation hearing scheduled for January 29, 2025.

Anthony Zaremski died during the execution of a federal search warrant when he fired upon officers at his Clifton Park apartment on May 23; two officers sustained injuries during this incident.

The ongoing investigation involves collaboration between DEA and ATF agents with support from several agencies including Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and Rotterdam Police Department among others. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander Wentworth-Ping is handling prosecution duties.
