Syracuse University is now accepting applications for the 2025 campus qualifier competition for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) InVenture Prize. The application period will close on January 31. Four finalist teams will be chosen to participate in a live virtual question-and-answer session scheduled for February 10 at 5 p.m.

The competition is open to undergraduate students or recent graduates who are the original creators, inventors, or owners of the intellectual property behind their invention. Judges, comprising technical industry leaders and alumni from across the country, will select a "top inventor" to represent Syracuse University at the ACC Conference finals.

The winner of this competition will earn an expense-paid trip to compete in the ACC InVenture Prize finals at the University of Notre Dame at the end of March. These televised finals will feature one team from each ACC college or university competing for $30,000 in prizes. Teams with revenue or venture capital funding exceeding $100,000 are not eligible to participate.

Katy Arons ’24 from the School of Information Studies, founder of Continual Consent LLC, previously participated in last year's ACC InVenture competition held in Florida.

Student startup teams or researchers from Syracuse University are encouraged to submit an online application detailing their venture idea along with a five-minute pitch video. Finalists from the campus qualifier will also have the opportunity to apply for LaunchPad Innovation Fund grants and Orange Innovation Fund grants through Syracuse University Libraries.

Applications that stand out typically involve technology or research being commercialized in fields such as agriculture, biology, life sciences, medical fields, climate science, consumer electronics, education, finance, sports technology, hardware and software development, artificial intelligence, augmented or virtual reality technologies, big data analysis, autonomous devices and robotics development, advanced materials research, Internet of Things innovations, and 5G advancements. Digital platforms should ideally feature novel technology beyond just an idea stage with some customer discovery and design drawings completed.

The Syracuse University ACC InVenture Prize receives support from the Provost’s Office and is hosted by Syracuse University Libraries alongside Blackstone LaunchPad.
