WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Brandon Williams (NY-22) released a statement in response to the arrest of a Pakistani citizen accused of planning a mass shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn. The planned attack was reportedly set for around the anniversary of the October 7th attacks, during which Hamas militants killed nearly 1,200 Israelis.
“Seldom do we see such a clear picture of evil. The news of this planned terror attack is a grim reminder that the scourge of anti-Jewish hatred is alive and well, and that our work in standing up for the Jewish community is far from over. I commend the New York Joint Terrorism Task Force, the FBI, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for their diligent work in identifying and responding to this threat. They undoubtedly saved lives,” said Congressman Williams.
Muhammed Shahzeb Khan, a 20-year-old Pakistani citizen living in Canada, was charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization.
The New York Joint Terrorism Task Force asserts that Khan had been distributing ISIS propaganda videos and expressing support for the terror organization since November 2023. Below are some messages he sent to undercover law enforcement officers:
“Oct 7th and oct 11th are the best days for targeting the jews…”
“oct 7 they will surely have some protests and oct 11 is yom.kippur.”
“New york is perfect to target jews”
“we are going to nyc to slaughter them”
“even if we dont attack a Event we could rack up easily a lot of jews.”
Congressman Brandon Williams continues to stand firmly against antisemitic hatred.
