The City of Syracuse Department of Neighborhood and Business Development will host a public input meeting to gather feedback from residents on the Syracuse Housing Strategy, a multi-year framework aimed at improving housing conditions in the city. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, at 5:30 p.m. at Soule Branch Library, located at 101 Springfield Road.
During the meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about recommendations for the Eastwood, Elmwood, Salt Springs, and Tipperary Hill neighborhoods. The session will include a brief overview of the strategy followed by a period for questions and feedback.
The Syracuse Housing Strategy is informed by community input and findings from the Syracuse Housing Study, which was completed in mid-2023. This comprehensive analysis revealed that nearly every housing challenge in Syracuse is linked to either a market or affordability gap. These gaps indicate significant disparities between the cost to create and maintain housing and residents' willingness (market gap) or ability (affordability gap) to pay for it.
