Congressman Brandon Williams (NY-22) announced that the New York Semiconductor Manufacturing and Research Technology Innovation Corridor (NY SMART I-Corridor Tech Hub) has been selected to receive the Phase 2 Tech Hubs Implementation Grant from the United States Economic Development Association. One of fewer than ten awardees nationwide, Central New York’s Tech Hub will play a pivotal role in creating work opportunities in a critical sector for underserved communities.

Rep. Williams worked directly with local stakeholders and across branches of government to advocate for this landmark funding, which will be integral to the improvement of semiconductor manufacturing capacity and workforce development in Central New York.

“Central New York, the Silicon Empire, is the beating heart of semiconductor production right here in the United States,” said Congressman Brandon Williams.

“I’ve been working with colleagues in Congress, across the aisle and across Upstate New York, to advance this priority. It’s a win for our communities, and I’m immensely proud to be a part of this milestone.”

More information about the Phase 2 Grant and its awardees can be found here.
