Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh expressed his satisfaction with the Common Council's adoption of the fiscal year 2024-25 city budget. The mayor commended the council for supporting the proposed spending plan, stating, "The adopted city budget for fiscal year 2024-25 supports our proposed spending plan with strong commitments to neighborhoods, city services and families."

Mayor Walsh highlighted specific allocations in the budget, noting, "It increases funding to the Syracuse Housing Trust Fund which will facilitate new quality housing and help current property owners fix up the aging housing stock." Additionally, he emphasized the importance of investing in the Syracuse Land Bank and blight remediation in city neighborhoods.

The mayor also pointed out the strategic investments made in various sectors, stating, "The budget also makes smart and strategic investments in public safety, infrastructure, jobs, schools, and parks." Mayor Walsh expressed his gratitude towards the Council for their diligent review of the budget over the past weeks, saying, "I thank the Council for its thorough review of the budget over the past weeks."

In conclusion, Mayor Walsh assured that he will fulfill his obligations as outlined in the City Charter, stating, "As required by the City Charter, I will review and respond to the Council’s amendments by May 20."
