Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay recently attended the opening of the Sterling Nature Center Resiliency Education Building on April 24, 2024. The event marked a significant milestone for the region, with Barclay emphasizing the benefits of the transformative initiative, stating, "This transformative initiative will benefit countless residents and businesses along the Lake Ontario shoreline."

The project, funded with $3.1 million through the state’s Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative, focused on the revitalization of the International Pier. This pier has now been transformed into a pedestrian-friendly park, integrated into the city’s walking trail system, and offering a vibrant waterfront experience for both locals and visitors. Barclay highlighted the redesigned layout's ability to maximize space for boaters and encourage visitors to enjoy the waterfront.

Barclay also expressed his appreciation for the hard work put into the project, noting, "These essential updates mark a significant milestone for the community and all who worked hard to make these improvements a reality." The upgraded facilities not only showcase the region's resilience and determination but also hold the potential for economic growth and development.

The opening of the Sterling Nature Center Resiliency Education Building signifies a positive step forward for the community, providing improved facilities that serve both residents and tourists alike.
