The Defense Programs at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management has recently welcomed two esteemed individuals to its leadership team. Thomas Constable and Ltc. (ret) John G. Dean IV have taken on key roles within the program, bringing with them a wealth of experience and dedication to the field.

Thomas Constable, the newly appointed director of Defense Programs, brings a distinguished background to his role. With a career spanning over two decades in the U.S. Army and the Department of Defense, Constable's expertise is a valuable addition to the program. Reflecting on his new position, Constable expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I loved my own experience with this program, and the opportunity came at a time when I had 35 years with the Department of Defense. I really wanted to teach but never had the chance. So, it all came together beautifully, and I haven’t looked back.”

Joining Constable is Ltc. (ret) John G. Dean IV, who has assumed the role of associate director of Defense Programs. Dean, with a commendable 25-year career in the U.S. Army, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new position. Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity, Dean shared, “I am very pleased to come back to Syracuse University and the Whitman Defense Programs after 20 years. I’m thankful for the knowledge I received here, and I’m eager to share my years of military and federal experience with students and Defense Program future leaders.”

J. Michael Haynie, the executive dean at the Whitman School, expressed his excitement about the new additions to the Defense Programs, stating, “The Whitman School is fortunate to welcome Tom and John to the Defense Programs. Their collective experience both as active duty military and with various agencies within the Department of Defense will not only greatly benefit our students but will help our programs continue to reach a broader audience across the DOD and the national security community.”

The arrival of Thomas Constable and Ltc. (ret) John G. Dean IV signifies a new chapter for the Defense Programs at the Whitman School, with their combined expertise set to enrich the educational experience for students and contribute to the program's continued success in preparing future leaders in the field of defense.
