It's time for another Rethink Waste Wednesday: Holiday edition!
As your cyber Monday packages start to arrive, here are some tips to properly recycle the packaging:
- Remove any non-paper contaminants such as loose tape, plastic packaging or styrofoam from your cardboard box.
- Flatten the cardboard box before placing it in your paper recycling bin.
- Do NOT place foam, bubble wrap or plastic shipping envelopes in your recycling bins. Plastic film such as bubble wrap, air pillows and plastic shipping envelopes can go back to retail/grocery stores as part of their plastic film recycling program (typically near the bottle return area or near the entrance of the store). Styrofoam and packaging peanuts are trash.
