Onondaga County Sheriff's Office - Sheriff’s Office Employees of the Month for May 2022

229

Sheriff Conway is pleased to congratulate Senior Correction Officer Kristina Gustafson and Correction Officer Anibal Pizarro as the Sheriff’s Office Employees of the Month for May 2022.

On May 25th, 2022, while leaving the Onondaga County Justice Center in an unmarked Correction Department vehicle, Senior Correction Officer Gustafson and Correction Officer Pizarro witnessed a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of East Adams Street and Almond Street in the City of Syracuse. Due to the significant damage to the involved vehicles, it was apparent that injuries were likely present. The two officers immediately jumped into action and began rendering first aid to the occupants. Additionally, Officer Pizarro directed traffic away from the scene to ensure the safety of all involved. Both drivers, one of which was 37 weeks pregnant, sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment.

The Syracuse Police Department conducted an investigation into the collision and determined that one of the drivers involved was traveling the wrong way on a one-way street.

We commend both Officer Gustafson and Pizarro for their professionalism and willingness to get involved, which is why it is Sheriff Conway’s honor to designate them as the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Employees of the Month for May 2022.

Congratulations!
