The Whitman School of Management’s Professor Johan Wiklund has been recognized as one of the leading business and economic research scholars globally. According to a study titled “What We Know About the Science of Science in Business and Economics? Insights From the Top 50 Journals, 2008-2022,” published in Production and Operations Management (2025), Wiklund is ranked 32nd with 42 papers featured in top academic journals.

“Being named to this list is always nice, and publishing in top journals is something we all endeavor,” said Wiklund. He added that achieving such recognition indicates success in a challenging academic pursuit. “I’m very proud to represent the Whitman School and also be recognized on a list that includes many friends and colleagues furthering interesting research in the various areas of business around the world.”

Wiklund holds the AI Berg Chair at Whitman’s Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises, which he joined in 2008. His work focuses on entrepreneurship, neurodiversity, and mental well-being. With over 100 articles published and more than 60,000 citations, his contributions have earned him international awards. This spring, he was named a Distinguished Professor at Syracuse University.

“This is not the first time Professor Wiklund has been recognized among the most prolific business scholars,” said Michel Benaroch, Whitman’s associate dean for research and Ph.D. programs. “This time his ranking has risen, reaffirming his research productivity and its quality for the second time over a long period.” Benaroch expressed pride in having Wiklund at Whitman School and anticipates more achievements from him.
