The University is participating in the annual “On My Own Time” celebration, a program that supports and showcases the artistic talents of local artists who create art in their personal time. The event is organized by CNY Arts, and this marks its 52nd year. Faculty and staff are encouraged to take part and present their artwork alongside other contributors from the region.

Eligible artwork will be displayed at Bird Library on campus in an exhibition titled “On My Own Time–Celebrating the Artistic Talents of Syracuse University Faculty and Staff,” running from May 30 to June 12 during library hours. Attendees can vote for the People’s Choice Award during the event. Additionally, a panel of judges, including a representative from CNY Arts, will select works for the “On My Own Time Grand Finale” exhibition. This finale will be hosted at the Everson Museum of Art from October 4 to November 9, featuring a reception on October 9. Tickets for this finale will be available in September at onmyowntime.org.

All full-time and part-time faculty and staff members are eligible to participate. Fine arts faculty and professional artists can submit works outside of their discipline. Submissions must be original and completed within the last three years. They should be display-ready, with up to three pieces allowed from each participant.

Submissions fall into various categories, including painting, metalwork, drawing, jewelry, collage, printmaking, computer art, photography, woodwork, glasswork, sculpture, mixed media, ceramics, and fiber art.

Interested artists need to register by May 9 by completing a registration form. Submissions are due at the Noble Room on May 29. Further details will be provided upon registration, and artists are responsible for the delivery and collection of their works. For inquiries or volunteering opportunities, individuals can email OMOT@syr.edu.
