Two Syracuse University rowers, senior Benjamin Campbell-Reide and sophomore Nick Bryan, were named to the 2026 Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) Athlete watchlist on March 24. The two athletes are among 42 rowers recognized on the IRCA’s Division I/II Heavyweight Men’s Rowing Watchlist.
The recognition highlights their achievements in collegiate rowing and places them among top athletes to follow in the upcoming season. Campbell-Reide has been a key member of the men’s rowing team during his four years at Syracuse, contributing significantly to the team’s best finish at the 2025 IRA Championships with a sixth-place result. Earlier this month, he set a new program indoor 2k record with a time of 5:46.7.
Last spring, Campbell-Reide received the Jack R. Robinson Inspiration Award from the IRCA and was also honored as an IRCA Scholar Athlete. He competed in both first and second varsity eight boats during the spring season and was awarded Syracuse Athletics’ Courage Award at the annual ‘Cuse Awards.
Bryan earned his spot on the watchlist in only his second year with Syracuse. In his first year, he primarily raced in both varsity eight (V8) and second varsity eight (2V8) crews, helping lead the latter boat to its best Grand Final finish at the IRA Championships in two decades. Over summer, Bryan represented New Zealand at the U23 World Rowing Championships in Poznan, Poland, where he sat four-seat for a men’s eight crew that won bronze.
Syracuse is scheduled to begin its spring rowing season at the Princeton Invite in Princeton, New Jersey on April 11.
