Talitha Freeman, a Cardiac Care Technician, has been honored as the 2025 recipient of the Joan Fernbach Kingson Award. Freeman was nominated by Dr. Twiggy Eure, Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging at Crouse Health. Dr. Eure praised Freeman’s commitment to embodying the values and culture of Crouse.
“Talitha is a kind, smart and conscientious team member who goes beyond expectations,” said Dr. Eure in the nomination. “She provides care-passion to our patients, families and co-workers every day. When I see Talitha with patients, she handles the patients with care and takes the time to speak to them while transporting them to their next stop. She is passionate about learning, excelling and growing at Crouse.”
The Joan Fernbach Kingson Award acknowledges service or technical workers like Freeman for their interactions with patients and families that reflect values important to Mrs. Kingson’s work with children and families.
These values include treating each patient as an individual; respecting others’ social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical needs; and involving families in the caring process. The award highlights service workers’ contributions such as listening carefully or sharing conversation.
This annual cash prize is funded by family and friends of former Crouse Hospital patient Joan Fernbach Kingson, who passed away in 2001. Her husband Eric Kingson is a Syracuse University professor and author of “Lessons from Joan: Living and Loving with Cancer, a Husband’s Story.”
